SHG women call for environment protection
Self Help Group women of FAsCE India staged a street play and distributed saplings at Narengi, Guwahati, on June 5, 2015, on
the occasion of World Environment Day.
Intended at creating awareness regarding protection of environment, the SHG members implored hundreds gathered to care for Mother
Nature by planting more trees. Through the play and accompanied message, they depicted the hazardous effects of cutting down trees
and exhorted the crowd to work towards an environment-friendly world.
When the women wrapped up the play by planting a tree and distributing saplings, it made an appeal to the hearts of all gathered.
FAsCE India also organised an awareness programme on environment protection for the children of its Supplementary Centre at SFS
Higher Secondary School, Narengi, on the same day. At the end of the programme, saplings were distributed to them and a sapling was
planted in the campus as a symbolic gesture. Dr (Fr) Emmanuel Mappilaparambil, the executive director, together with a child planted the sapling.
